Knit and Crochet Design Contest 2017

Have you ever created a pattern of your own out of knit or crochet? Now is the perfect time to show the world and enter our Knit and Crochet Design contest! Winners not only receive a cash prize, but they become published designers in our catalog and on our website.  We judge on four categories: Knit Afghan, Crochet Afghan, Baby Blanket (knit or crochet), and Accessories (knit or crochet). Entry forms are due May 19th but the finished projects do not have to be to our office until June 20th, so there is still time to get your ideas worked out in yarn! The contest is a fun time for all of us at Mary Maxim, we love seeing all of the different ideas from such creative minds. If you are interested in entering you can download an entry form here as well as read all of the rules and regulations.

Here are a few important things to keep in mind if you are going to enter:

All designs must be original. Inspiration can come from something you have seen, but your entry must be significantly different from any published work.

It is VERY IMPORTANT to keep accurate track of the materials used for your entry, meaning exact yardage (not ounces) as opposed to full skeins. If your entry is a winner, it will be made into a kit, and this information is vital.

It is the best idea to write your pattern as you go to not miss any important steps or try to remember what you did.

Most importantly... HAVE FUN! We hope to see an entry from you, and please share with anyone you know who may be interested in entering! Take a look below to see a sampling of winners from previous contests. Feel free to comment with any questions below.
