National Craft Month

National Craft Month was started in 1994 by the National Craft and Hobby Association. It was designed to help people rediscover the joys and benefits of crafting in all of its many forms. Aside from all of our Knit and Crochet items, we wanted to tell you about some of the other types of craft items we carry at Mary Maxim. We encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and give something new a try!

Diamond Dotz are a new craft trend that we are very excited about. The kits come with preprinted adhesive fabric that is available in a wide variety of designs, as well as the Diamond Dotz, stylus, wax, a tray and instructions. This is a relaxing and easy craft that is good for just about any age.

When most people think of Paint by Number, they think of children’s activity books, but Paint by Number is a challenging and rewarding activity for adults as well. Kits come with all the paint and brushes you need, and there are other accessories such as premium brushes and paint palettes also available, to create a masterpiece. We have a range of scenes from holiday to wildlife or even Thomas Kinkade. Several of our new kits also come with LED lights built into the canvas for an even more impressive finished piece to frame or hang.

Quilt Magic kits are an excellent choice for someone who doesn’t think they have a lot of creative skills. These kits are so simple; you use the Quilt Magic tool to tuck the included fabric into pre-cut grooves to create a beautiful wall hanging. This would be a fun craft to do with your children!

Felt Calendars are a fun addition to any decor and with the option of sewing or gluing on the sequins, you can do the craft alone or with a child helper. The kits come with everything you need, aside from glue if you choose to glue the sequins, to complete as well as hang your finished calendar on the provided dowel.

Last, but surely not least, is Plastic Canvas. With Plastic Canvas, the possibilities are endless with what you can create. We have wall hangings, coaster sets, tissue box covers, as well as pieces that are sure to become heirlooms, such as doll houses and a musical Carousel that actually turns. All you need are a few basic stitches and you are on your way to creating fun and functional gifts.

Have you tried any of these crafts? Which would you like to try? Use coupon code ” MARCH25″ at checkout to receive 25% off of one item, valid until March 31st, 2017, for one time use only. Keep an eye on www.marymaxim.com for new and interesting craft ideas and have a Happy National Craft Month!

  • Hi, I found the paint by number. When I was 17 back in 1949 I painted by number and I still have the painting. It’s right above my head hanging on my wall. It is a table with a bowl of panzy’s and a curtain to the left on window. I did it in purple, a little yellow and white. They look real. A lot of people have wanted the picture through the years, but I liked it too much to let it go.
I was a young girl living at home when I painted it. Now at85 I was looking for 3 kits for my daughters to do . They admired my Pancy’s all these years.
Can’t wait to get my order. I placed it over a week ago. When can I expect it?

I want to order more paint by number, I want to try it again myself.
    Thanks, Dorothy Makar
