Hi! I’m Christine Longe, the artist, maker and designer behind Lakeview Cottage Kids! And, I am so very excited to be a part of this year’s Mary Maxim Christmas Countdown!

I began my adventure into knit and crochet as a teenager. I was very interested in the projects that my mother and grandmothers were making, and I watched and listened to them as they created beautiful garments and accessories for me, my siblings and my cousins. Soon I was creating my own projects and became totally obsessed with everything knit and crochet! For years I enjoyed making lovely items for myself, my family and friends. But in 2011 I started my blog and online shops and began teaching classes to students for teens and adults. On my blog visitors will find all kinds of information, tips, video tutorials and patterns for kids and those who love them. And, in my shops you will find easy to intermediate level patterns and ready-made items for hats and accessories for children, and adults, too.

I work to create easy, trendy patterns and I make cute and cozy items for all members of the family! I think you may love them!!

I hope you will visit Lakeview Cottage Kids often and find something that you just have to try!!

Best Wishes! Christine

Soft and Cuddly Baby Afghan

Are you looking for a lovely, soft and cuddly gift for that little one in your family? Or do you want to make a beautiful, but easy to make, gift for that special baby who just arrived? Well, the Soft and Cuddly Baby Afghan pattern is perfect for gift giving!

It is made with 100% Acrylic Bernat “Softee Baby” yarn. This yarn is so deliciously soft and is machine washable and tumble dryable, too. It is a #3 weight yarn available in a wide variety of colors so you will be able to create a gorgeous blanket for every new baby you know!

The Soft and Cuddly Baby Afghan pattern is so easy. The blanket itself with the first border listed in the pattern is made using the double crochet stitch almost exclusively… with a few single crochet stitches mixed in on the border. It is so much fun to make, that you will become obsessed with making one blanket after another! Not only is this the perfect gift for friends and family, it is also perfect for donations to hospitals for the new arrivals there, too!
