Thank you for joining our Second Annual Christmas Countdown. Today’s featured designer is Pam from Made with a Twist and is the Crochetpreneur. We are so excited to feature Pam today. You may recognize her from other guest posts on this blog, so make sure to check out her Facebook and Instagram accounts and give her a follow.
Hi, I’m Pam Grice, the part psychotherapist, part crochet designer, and full-on-cheerleader behind the Crochetpreneur blog where I combine my wisdom as a counselor and experience as a six-figure Etsy artisan to help other makers find the personal and financial freedom that comes from having a successful crochet business. When I’m not coaching, counseling, or crocheting, I spend my days caring for my newly-toddling grandson. I’m an introvert who loves people, an encourager, a solution-finder, and a creative-thinker who spent more time reading encyclopedias and playing with yarn as a child than was probably normal.
Journey: Speaking of yarn, I began crocheting as a precocious youngster, watching my mom and grandma as they made beautiful blankets and pillows (many of them Mary Maxim designs) and I wanted to learn, too – but I wanted to do it myself (stubborn kid). So, I picked up some yarn and quickly mastered the 10-mile long finger chain…which, as we all know, is a pretty useless make. Dissatisfied, I picked out some of my mom’s pattern books and magazines, read all the tutorials, and devoured all the photos, and practiced for hour after hour until I learned to read a pattern. Once I understood that secret language we crocheters share, I was off to the races, making stuffed animals for everyone I knew.
I can’t remember a time that I put the hook down for an extended period of time, it’s always been a great anxiety reliever and cozy companion. In 2013, I decided to start selling my projects at craft fairs and on Etsy. After a miserable start, I found my way around and grew Made with a Twist into one of the top 1% of crochet shops on Etsy. It was at that point, in 2016, that I realized I could merge my love for people and my love for crochet and help others to grow their businesses as well. That’s when I started the Crochetpreneur blog and, eventually, the Crochetpreneur Business Academy. It’s been such a great experience and I can’t wait to see what the next few years have in store for the maker community!
About the design: I designed this adorable Oh, Bobble Tree Ornament for you as a spin-off of my most popular design this season, the Bibbledy Bobbledy Christmas Trees. I wanted to create something that worked up very fast, that could be made as a last-minute gift for teachers and hostesses, and that would be easy to make on repeat while binge-watching Disney+. So, I came up with this ornament that sits (or hangs) about 5″ tall when made with bulky weight Titan yarn from Mary Maxim.
Make the design in any color you like, but my customers have loved the white version. DOWNLOAD IS EXPIRED now, as it’s only free until January 31st.
