Weekend Crafting Plans

We thought it would be fun to begin sharing our weekend crafting plans, complete with a snack and movie that we plan on enjoying while we work! We hope you enjoy this new feature!

This weekend I can’t wait to get started on The Dreamer Afghan kit. The colors are gorgeous and because it is made in motifs I can get a handle on the pattern and then pay attention to a good movie! The Dream Team is a classic comedy that is good for the whole family. I love being able to work on something I enjoy and also spend time with my family, due to our busy schedules the weekends are the time we unwind together. I found this delicious looking recipe for Pretzel Bites that seem easy enough for my daughters to help make and they seem like a snack we will all enjoy. What movies do you watch with your family?

As a mom of 3 energetic boys, if I get the rare chance to have an evening to myself, Netflix and knitting is my relaxing choice. This weekend my plans include working on a pair of socks in some fun colors to break up the cabin fever I am starting to get from a blustery winter in Michigan. I am using Sweet Feet yarn¬†and I will be knitting this free pattern from our website. I have been dying to watch the Santa Clarita Diet since it was released on Netflix, but I have heard it is a show that you will want to binge watch, so that is exactly what I plan on doing while I knit my socks. For a snack, I’m going to try to keep it semi-healthy by giving these Cauliflower Breadsticks a try. What are your weekend plans? Do you have projects you save just for weekend knitting or crocheting? Have any good movies or shows you suggest for us to try next? Comment below! If you are looking for any project ideas, we have thousands of downloadable patterns available at www.marymaxim.com.

  • I’m an advanced-level crocheter, but barely intermediate-level knitter, so the weekends are when I try to tackle knit WIPs. I’m currently trying a mock cable scarf pattern that I’ve frogged twice so far because I’m trying to not accept defeat. If I start to feel stressed, I switch to an easy crochet project
